Preparation: 5 minutes
Cooking: 10 minutes
Mix or sift dry ingredients thoroughly. Add remaining ingredients. Stir lightly to just moisten dry ingredients. Mixture will be thick and lumpy. Drop by tablespoons onto lightly greased griddle, spreading batter with spoon. Turn cakes as soon as browned on bottom. Cook until other side is browned.
Makes twenty 4-inch pancakes.

I make these over an open fire on an antique cast iron griddle. There is nothing that even comes close.
I’ve used other recipes, but this one really makes the best tangy buttermilk pancakes. I crave these during the week and can’t wait for the weekends when I have time to make them for breakfast. I have even been known to make them for dinner once in awhile! Thanks for posting this recipe online!

Thank goodness this recipe is available on line! I bought Darigold buttermilk in the new plastic container and complained at checkout because this recipe was missing. I’ve used it for 40 years and depended on it being on the milk carton. Whew! I’m glad to print it out and have it.
25-30 years ago my grandpa, who retired from Darigold, use to make these for all the grandkids at CHristmas. Now I can make them for my kids :)
