Darigold has been an integral part of Pacific Northwest family's lives for more than 90 years. It's a name that evokes nostalgic memories of home and childhood. Here's the story of the brand and the look of one of our prize products.
In 1925, the United Dairymen's Association members gathered together for a family picnic. At this picnic, they held a contest to determine the brand name for the milk, cheese and butter they produced. The winner was "Darigold." And of these products, the butter became one of the best loved among our consumers.
During that time, a survey by the Seattle Times revealed that "Darigold butter has no rival." Because the product reputation was so strong, Darigold ads and food editorials began carrying the slogan "made by the people who make Darigold butter." Special attention was devoted to the Darigold butter packaging so that it would convey the quality attributes of the product inside.

1925This is the year we rolled out our first Darigold butter packaging to consumers. It was on that yellow box that we first announced the premium Darigold name. We also incorporated an image of a cow to signify that the company is a "farmer-owned" cooperative. |
